TEXAS HOBO Cook-Off

IS BACK!!!

OK folks, here's the skinny...  I'm sure you've noticed that our purse has shrunk by more that 50% since our last cook-off in 2019.  I'm not gonna give you any sob story but I feel I ought to let you in on were my 4-H program stands as of now.  Cancelling our 2020 cook-off really hurt our checking account, as we were heavily invested in hopes of making it the best one yet.  We haven't been able to fund-raise to recoup those losses in over a year thanks to the COVID-19 safety protocols that were in place.  Since a lot of those expenses were non-refundable, we are basically starting over from ZERO.  The VIRUS gave us it's worst but ...despite it's best efforts, the HOBO proved to be a SURVIVOR.  We're no where close to being back on top but we'got a good toehold and were climbing.  As for the cook-off itself, we are basically starting over from scratch as well.  It's too much fun to let it die off...so after a few planning meetings we've scraped together enough coins to guarantee a purse of $5000 for up to 40 cookteams. 

If we get more teams, then the purse will go up as follows: 

                * 50% of the entry fees from teams 41-50 will be added to the purse. 

                * 100% of the entry fees from 51 and up will be added to the purse. 

So at this point, it's up to you, the cooks...if you want the purse higher...PLEASE, tell your friends about this event.   Together, the bigger we become, the better we become.   We've always offered discounted rates for our returning cooks and this year is no different.  The regular entry fee is $200.00 but returning cooks from the 2019 event will only pay $175.00.  The 2019 Grand Champion, Allen Freeman, will receive a complementary entry and Phil Breeden, the 2019 Reserve Champion will receive a 50% discounted entry fee ($87.50).  Our 2019 Longest Haul winner, Del Patterson, will receive a 25% discounted entry fee ($131.25).  Hope to see you there...
